Construction
The Church was constructed in the early 1900s but is beautifully maintained and complies with all the latest safety and disability requirements. The beautiful stained glass windows provide plenty of natural light and ventilation and there is a light oak wooden floor. There is level access to the Coffee bar and Bradbury Hall complex.
Access
There is easy access from the main street for all users. The doors are fully accessible for wheelchair users and those with disabilities.
Church Capacity
The number of people allowed in the Church depends on the use and the risk assessment carried out for the event. Please do not invite the maximum numbers to your event until we have agreed that your event will comply with safety regulations. The Church fully complies with all safety regulations regarding emergency exits and fire alarms etc.; The risk assessment will centre on how you will get people out and away from the hall in the event of an emergency. For example it may take longer to get people out in wheelchairs or prams than a youth group. We will be able to help you with this.
Approximate numbers that could be accommodated:
- Theatre Style with everyone seated in rows - 250.
- Additional booking of the Church foyer area will add a further 50 seats of the same style.
Approximate reductions in numbers:
- For every table (1800 mm x 760 mm) used - reduce numbers by 4.
- For every table (1800 mm x 760 mm) with 8 chairs used - reduce numbers by 8.
Stage
The Church has a raised area at the front. Additional staging can be supplied if required.
Chairs
250 comfortable wooden chairs with light blue padded seats and backs are provided in the Church. Some of these have arm rests. A further 50 chairs are in the foyer. Small chairs for children are also available.
Organ
The Church has a beautiful full size, regularly used pipe organ which is available for hire.
Piano
The Church has one of the best grand pianos in Bristol. We can arrange to have this tuned for your event at an extra charge.
Music Concerts
If you are planning to hold a concert in the Church then it is possible to book the Church for a music practice at a reduced price. The Church can supply up to 20 music stands for your musicians.
Other Accessories
Other accessories include coat racks and hangers, uplights, electric heaters, children’s chairs.
Tables
Lightweight aluminium folding tables are available. The number of tables available will depend on the needs of other users within the building. Normally there is a minimum of:
- 9 x tables 920 mm x 920 mm.
Additional tables of different sizes can be supplied upon request.
Internet
There is a Wi-Fi Broadband system in the Church - password controlled - which you may use free of charge at your discretion and at your own risk. Note that we do not have technical support available on a 24/7 basis and you should have a back up plan in case the Wi-Fi system goes down during your event.
Flip charts - additional charge
Flip charts complete with paper and pens are available.
Catering - additional charge
There are many different areas for you to enjoy refreshments for your event as it is not expected that these are served in the main Church sanctuary. For example you could use the Church foyer, coffee bar or meeting room (all with an additional small charge). Further we can arrange catering for your event from just coffee or a buffet lunch to a full sit down meal.
General lighting
The Church has ceiling mounted fluorescents to provide general lighting. Additional lights and beams are used at the front.
First aid
A suitable first aid kit is supplied.
Hearing induction loop
An Induction Loop system for the hard of hearing is installed in the Church with its own separate microphone.
Warning! Care is needed with the loop system as there are two other loop systems in the immediate area which can affect the performance with cross talk.
Sound and PA system
The sound equipment rack is situated at the back of the Church. Four radio mics feed into this plus mics located in the pulpit, lectern and centre of the raised area at the front. There are twin speakers mounted on the Church columns within the body of the Church with two further speakers pointing towards the front for the benefit of musicians/performers.
The sound rack is fitted with:
- 10 way Rack Mount Mixer.
- CD Player & Reversible Cassette deck.
- Mini disc player.
- Induction Loop Amplifier.
- Church Power Amplifier.
Presentation equipment - additional charge
We can arrange the supply of additional technical equipment you may need for your booking.
Power outlets
There are 2 x double 13 amp socket outlets positioned each side of the Church plus one outlet by the pulpit, one in the middle and 2 by the speakers.
Heating
Heating is provided via a gas central heating system which will maintain a constant temperature of 20°C.
Windows
There are multiple stained glass and decorative windows, however, with most Churches even during daylight hours electric lights are required.
Blinds
The east facing stained glass window has vertical blinds to remove glare on sunny days. Otherwise there are no facilities to black out the Church.
Church Foyer
The foyer is separated from the Church sanctuary by a permanent wood and glass screen and it is possible to hire this area separately - although this is normally only possible when the Church itself is not in use. This area has approximately 30 chairs and 9 tables and can be laid out for a small meeting or group activity.
There is a wooden floor and natural light.
